weekend in wisconsin

Tuesday, August 12, 2014

hello! i've been MIA since the beginning of this month, and i only have a good excuse for about four of those days. that leaves eight days unaccounted for. how about i make it up to you with pictures? lots of pictures?

i just got back from a long weekend in wisconsin with the boyfriend. he was born and raised outside of milwaukee and moved to raleigh around the same time i did about 4 1/2 years ago. one of his good friends from back home asked him to be the best man in his wedding so i went along as his date and had a chance to meet his family. what an awesome trip! his family was really great and welcomed us into town with a cookout complete with delicious brats straight off the grill. wisconsin knows how to do it up right.

i didn't take as many pictures as i hoped to. we were so busy with activities and hanging out with his friends and family that i forgot to take more pictures. i guess that's a good thing though, right? having such a good time that you lose track of where your iphone is? i'm going with it.

it was really sweet to see dan interacting with his family and good friends. they love him so much, and he was super happy to spend time with them. i just love to see him smile. it makes his blue eyes even bluer if that's even possible.

thanks for a great trip, wisconsin! i'll be back. you have the most delicious creamy custard, and don't even get me started on your cheese curds.

  1. Great photos! It's so neat to see some of the awesome places that you got to go and see on your trip! And I know exactly what you mean- I always intend to take more pictures than I really do. Sometimes you just need to put down the camera and soak up the sights without being behind the lens. I'm so happy that you had a great time and got to spend time getting to know your bf's family. Now they know how lucky their son is to be dating such an amazing lady :) And you look gorgeous in that blue dress!

    1. yeah i completely agree with you about the camera thing. i don't know if you have seen the walter mitty movie, but there is a scene near the end that explains exactly that. sometimes you miss the moments happening right in front of you when you are trying to view them from behind the lens of a camera. (great movie, btw.) yeah we had a great trip-i wish we were still on vacation! isn't that the way it goes? according to insta, you've recently had a fun little beach day! i'm so glad you've been able to take some fun trips here and there this summer. what are the latest happening with nashville??

    1. it was a great trip! i wish we were still there! haha. hey, if that's the worst thing happening on our vacations (forgetting to take pictures), i think we must be doing something right. :-)

  4. Looks like such a good time. I have a friend who live in Wisconsin and I want to go visit so badly! Your pictures are beautiful as always and making me want to travel some more. But since my bank account says no more traveling, I'll live vicariously through your photographs.
And hey, taking time off from blogging is absolutely acceptable. I accidentally disappeared for almost a month. But then I realized how much I really missed it and now I'm back and settling into my North Carolina life.

    1. it was a great time to go for a visit-winters are rough! haha. it was cool because we got to see different parts of the state. we saw the busy downtown area, the surrounding towns and suburbs, and even a good part of the country and rolling fields. you should try to go visit your friend when you bank account is filled up a little bit more. :-) how is NC treating you? where are you again?
