empty closet? fill it up!

a few weeks ago, i made room in my closet by getting rid of clothes/shoes i didn't wear anymore, but with all the extra room it looked lonely. so i went shopping at goodwill. i'm a girl. it's what i do.

first up, this fancy red calvin klein dress. it hits me at an awkward length so i plan on getting it hemmed to hit mid-thigh. fire engine red + lots of leg = date night. now, to find the date part of that equation...

my rooms found this sweet little number for me. she's not getting coal in her stocking this year. no siree.

a bright orange, oversized martin + osa sweatshirt.
kind of obnoxious.
kind of awesome. really comfortable.

light green suede loafers. i couldn't find any label on these shoes so i think that pretty much gives me permission to pretend i have a personal cobbler.

this coat was priced at $8, which i was willing to pay. when i got to the register, it rung up for $4.50. and then my mom bought me coffee. it was a very good day.

cropped navy silk tank. i wore it last week and felt pretty rockstar. maybe it's because i paid less than $4 for it. maybe it's because it's flowy and hides my soft-from-too-many-holiday-treats tummy.

lbd. every girl needs one. or seven.

this very yummy and very cozy talbot's kids sweater. my mum went halfsies with me because it was $10, and i wasn't willing to pay that much for it. but $5? well, now we're talking.

the only non-clothing item i bought. meet deer head. he's my new best friend and body guard. he watches over me at night. just kidding. he doesn't really hang right above my head. i'm not a weirdo. he sleeps on a pillow next to me.

you thrifters been finding any sweet treasures lately? how about the next time i have clothes to donate, we just have one big swap meet? ok.

  1. So, uh... not gonna lie... the deer head freaks me out. Other than that, pretty awesome stuff!

  3. Deer head is awesome, random, and ever so slightly disturbing, but only just enough to elicit a "hmph!" of thoughts. He looks kind of intimidating, which is why I'm guessing he fills in as a body guard. So he's got the attitude, but the lack of an impressive rack of antlers doesn't really back up that eyebrow and facial posture he's exuding. Maybe he's just a juvenile full of angst and frustration? I don't think I've even seen an actual deer head mounted that has as small a set of antlers that he's rockin' and maybe that's the point? Deer head is the young buck that the world ignores as we only value greatness, he represents the unknown deer lying in the ditch on the side of the road, he is the deer torn down before he reached his prime, he is a representation of a generation that has mounted itself for display when their credentials don't back up their claim, he is an abstract of all that is wrong in the world, or he's an unpainted deer head with a small set of antlers so he doesn't take up too much wall space. Meh. Regardless, if I vaguely recall, in a post several months ago, you featured a picture of a deer head that someone had jazzed up to be all sorts of artsy-ness; is that the plan for this guy?

Also, the past month or so, of so there have been underlying and/or alluding comments concerning dating, finding prince charming (dennis quad. seriously?), being a cheap date, what things you like to do on dates, etc. If some guy read your blog, he'd find it's pretty much a manual for the things he could do to win you over. I sincerely hope that not someone, but the one, finds you soon, not because you need it, but because I think you deserve it. And in no way does writing what you do make you sound like you're desperate, you're just addressing an issue that seems to be sitting on the back of your mind, as it probably does with almost every girl. So, I know you're leading a girl's small group, but that doesn't plug you into meeting the good church guys. Are you plugged into Summit's young professional group at all? Still volunteering with coffee set up? Maybe church guys don't feel comfortable asking a girl out at church over the coffee counter, if you haven't been asked. Or maybe only lame guys have asked so far, but whatever the case, I hope good things come your way soon. Or rather, I hope it is in God's will for such things to occur.

After reading what I wrote, I'm questioning my writing ability and the articulation of my message, so just to clarify, in no way do I want this to sound like I'm pitying you, but rather, you're a funny, attractive, creative, interesting, and most importantly a Christian girl. A 'good' girl that the nice guys should be looking for, I am simply hoping he finds you soon/now rather than later. Until then, may you continue to find patience in God's plan, and after Mr. right comes along, may you continue to find ALL your sources of a self constructed reality that is the sum of our human existence, in God first.

    PS nice piece concerning thanksgiving.
